Everyone’s favourite BMW model turns 50 this year and to celebrate the golden jubilee of the quintessential sports sedan, BMW Malaysia has released the limited-edition BMW M340i xDrive Edition 50 Jahre that is exclusive to the Malaysian market.
The BMW 3 Series has long been regarded as the embodiment of the sports sedan and in fitting style, the Edition 50 Jahre incorporates more than just cosmetic bits to celebrate the occasion.

It will be an ultra-exclusive model with only 50 units produced. Based on the M340i xDrive G20 3 Series, the Edition 50 Jahre is powered by the same B58 3.0-litre straight-six from the base variant. That’s a punchy 387 hp and 500 Nm of torque. Coupled with the ZF eight-speed automatic and xDrive all-wheel drive, it will dust off the 0-100km/h sprint in 4.4 seconds and top out at an electronically limited 250 km/h.
On the outside, the Edition 50 Jahre plays the understated elegance card with minimal differences. The noticeable differences are an extended M Shadowline on the front and side skirts from the M Performance catalogue. Of course, you’ll find an insignia on the B-pillar bearing ‘50 Jahre Edition, 1975-2025’ and the build number from 1-50.
Inside, it’s a little more special with the steering wheel sporting a red 12 o’clock marker and M tri-colour stitching, M Performance centre armrest wrapped in Alcantara, and carbon gearshift paddles. Completing the cockpit is Sensatec (vegan leather) upholstery, new air-conditioning vent geometry and galvanic buttons for a tactile feel.
And yes, there is another engraved emblem on the centre console for exclusivity.

The rest of the cabin is standard M340i fare such as the integrated curved display and BMW Operating System 8.5 as well as the 16-speaker Harmon Kardon sound system.
Wheels are 19-inch M lightweight rollers in Style 792 M and wrapped in Pirelli PZero rubbers. Peeking out behind the twin five-spokes are gloss red brake callipers, four pistons on the front and a single one at the rear. Both of these are standard on the regular M340i.
Last we checked, there are still a few units of the Edition 50 Jahre available. Priced at RM396,800, an additional RM11,000 over the regular M340i, expect it to be snapped up swiftly. Add in BSRI five-year warranty and the service package, it’ll climb to RM423,200.
You can order the Edition 50 Jahre on the BMW Shop Online. Just click here to place the RM3,400 booking fee and select one of four colour options; M Brooklyn Grey, Alpine White, Arctic Race Blue and Black Sapphire, before picking your nearest BMW dealership.
