Jaecoo is gearing up to launch its fourth model in Malaysia, the Jaecoo J8. This D-segment SUV was previewed prior to the Hari Raya holidays, and its competitive pricing combined with premium features could make it a strong contender in its class.
Measuring in at 4.82 metres long, 1.93 metres wide, and 1.71 metres tall, and a wheelbase of 2.82 metres. The Jaecoo J8 is notably larger than its sibling, the Omoda C9, which translates to more interior space.
For those who found the C9’s styling a tad too futuristic, the J8 presents a more traditional aesthetic. Its large front grille bears a noticeable resemblance to certain design elements from the Mercedes-Benz GLC, but the rear features full-width taillights, which look similar to those on the Omoda C9.
The J8’s standout feature is its interior, which is available in both five and six-seater configurations. The preview model showcased the latter, featuring a 2-2-2 layout with captain chairs in the second row, separated by a convenient central walkway to access the third row.

Under the bonnet, the Jaecoo J8 packs a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, delivering 249 hp and 385 Nm. This power is managed by an eight-speed automatic transmission, allowing the SUV to reach 0-100km/h in 9.0 seconds and a top speed of 200 km/h. Upon its official launch, you will have the choice between front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) variants.
Jaecoo Malaysia has already opened order books for the J8, with estimated prices set at RM195,000 for the FWD variant and RM220,000 for the AWD variant. The official launch is expected around Q2 2025, so we won’t have to wait too long to see the official sticker price!
