MARii and MAA sign MOU to alternate motor shows every year – MAS in 2025, KLIMS 2026

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed by the Malaysian Automotive Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii) and Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) to collaborate on organising automotive exhibition and motor shows on an alternate-year basis.

Starting this year in 2025 until 2028, MARii will host its flagship Malaysia Auto Show (MAS) in alternate years with the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Showcase (KLIMS) organised by the MAA. In case you’re still confused, it’s MAS in 2025, KLIMS in 2026, followed by MAS 2027, and KLIMS in 2028 again.

With this new strategy, both organisations aim to create more impactful and innovative events by optimizing resources and allowing industry players more time for planning and preparation.

Through the creation of a shared platform, both shows are able to showcase the very best in automotive technology advancements, industry collaboration, and increased public engagement.

MARii Chief Executive Officer En. Azrul Reza Aziz says that the collaboration between the two organisations is a transformative milestone for the nation’s automotive industry. “By aligning the strengths of MARii and MAA, we are creating a unified, strategic approach to organizing automotive exhibitions.” he adds.

MAA President En. Mohd Shamsor Zain says that this move will not burden industry players to participate in two major auto shows in a single year.

The MoU is a significant move for KLIMS, since before its return to MITEC this year, the last edition was a long six years ago, back in 2018. On the other hand, MAS has been held on a nearly-annual basis at MAEPS, Serdang, ever since it was first inaugurated in 2017.
