Scores are meant to be broken, and Proton has done just that with its first fully electric vehicle (EV), the Proton eMAS 7 (stylised as e.MAS 7). Achieving a five-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating and an impressive score of 92.57 points, the Proton eMAS 7 has surpassed the Chery Omoda 5 to claim the top spot among all vehicles tested by ASEAN NCAP this year.
Tested under the stringent 2021-2025 protocol, the Proton eMAS 7 has achieved 31.20 out of 32 points for adult occupant protection, 44.17 out of 51 points for child occupant protection, a perfect 21 out of 21 points for safety assist, and 13 out of 16 points for motorcyclist safety.
According to ASEAN NCAP, the Proton eMAS 7’s passenger compartment remained stable during testing, providing good protection to both the driver and front passenger. This strong performance is attributed to the eMAS 7’s high-strength, cage-type body structure designed for enhanced occupant safety.
The Cell-to-Body (CTB) construction of the eMAS 7 batteries also help increase torsional rigidity of the vehicle, while also enhancing passenger safety.
Standard safety features in the eMAS 7 include six airbags and a comprehensive suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), such as adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, and lane departure warning.
