Porsche’s release schedule really is like clockwork, in perhaps the most German way possible. Even though the 992.1 model 911 GT3 has only been around for just about three years, Porsche has already now unveiled the refreshed Porsche 911 earlier this year, so of course the GT3 has to be updated too – and so, they did.
What you’re looking at is the new 2024 Porsche 911 GT3, built atop of the 992.2 model 911. And like all Porsches, the new GT3 is also a lot of the same stuff from before.
It’s got roundabout the same looks as you’d expect, and it’s also still powered by the same 4.0-litre flat-six engine that revs to a thrilling 9,000 rpm – no hybrids here. Curiously, though, torque output figures on the engine have actually dropped by 20 Nm from the previous model, making just 510 hp and 450 Nm.
What’s changed here is actually the gearing, as both the six-speed manual and seven-speed PDK dual-clutch gearbox now get an 8% shorter final drive ratio. Acceleration times haven’t changed, taking 3.4 seconds to go from 0-100 km/h in the PDK, and 3.9 seconds on the manual, but top speed has dipped as a result of the longer gear ratios, now 311 km/h and 313 km/h respectively, both 7 km/h lower than before.
The 992.2 GT3 has inherited some parts from its elder brother, the 911 GT3 RS, including new cylinder heads and camshafts for the engine, and suspension components such as aerodynamic trailing arms to increase downforce and improved brake cooling of the wheel arches.
While its looks largely remain unchanged generation-after-generation, the 992.2 GT3 has actually been given a big update when it comes to aerodynamics. That means looking into the smallest of details, including the new headlights which allow for wider aerodynamic intakes up front.

The front diffuser, spoiler lip, and underbody have been redesigned to increase downforce and optimise airflow. At the rear, the diffuser, air inlets, and rear lid are all updated, with the rear spoiler also gaining new angled side plates for added downforce.
That doesn’t mean you have to have the rear wing though, because for the first time ever, Porsche is also offering the new 2024 911 GT3 with the Touring package from launch. The GT3 Touring replaces the rear wing for a extendable rear spoiler with a tear off edge, Gurney flap, and an adapted fin design on the underbody to provide aerodynamic balance.
You’ll also be able to option in rear seats in the Touring, a first for any GT3 ever.
True to its lightweight ethos, Porsche has further reduced the weight of the 992.2 GT3. New sports bucket seats, aluminium and magnesium wheel options (1.5 kg and 9 kg lighter), and a lighter battery all contribute to a curb weight of just 1,421 kg in its lightest configuration.
The magnesium wheels are part of the Weissach Package, which is now available on the GT3 for the first time. They’re joined by a whole bunch of carbon-fibre parts, including the roof, anti roll bars, drop links, shear panel, end plates, and mirror caps.
Want to get your hands on the latest and greatest 911 GT3? Porsche Malaysia’s website indicates that orders for both the 992.2 GT3 and GT3 Touring will open towards the end of this year. While official Malaysian pricing remains under wraps for now, the GT3 and GT3 Touring in the UK start at £157,300 (approx. RM 883k) before options.
