Porsche is no stranger to Nürburgring lap records, and when a Chinese electric vehicle (EV) came along to outpace the Taycan Turbo GT, Stuttgart clearly wasn’t going to sit back. Teaming up with Manthey, Porsche has pushed the Taycan Turbo GT even further, setting a blistering 06:55.533 minute lap around the Green Hell. That makes it the fastest production EV ever to tackle the 20.8 km circuit.
Behind the wheel was none other than Porsche development driver Lars Kern, who dethroned the BYD Yangwang U9 Xtreme and its 6:59.157 benchmark by roughly 3.5 seconds. The new time also crowns it the fastest car in the electric executive car class, beating the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra by nine seconds and even the standard Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Package by 12 seconds.
The Manthey kit was developed jointly by the Porsche Development Centre in Weissach and Manthey in Meuspath, focusing heavily on aero efficiency and track performance. It adds larger end plates, a revised front diffuser, a high-performance rear diffuser with extended fins, and bigger underbody air deflectors. Carbon aero discs on the rear wheels further smooth airflow, while adjustable front and rear aero elements let drivers switch between low- and high-downforce setups.
In total, Porsche says downforce is roughly tripled over the standard Taycan. At 200 km/h, it rises from 95 kg to 310 kg, and at top speed, now increased to 310 km/h, the Taycan Turbo GT with Manthey Kit can generate around 740 kg of downforce.

Beyond aerodynamics, Porsche has also fine-tuned the suspension and drive systems to sharpen the Taycan’s handling on track. The Manthey package introduces new 21-inch forged aluminium wheels with a dedicated design, paired with titanium wheel bolts that shave up to 3 kg compared to the Weissach Pack setup. These are wrapped in sticky Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS tyres for maximum grip.
Braking performance is also upgraded, with a revised system featuring larger 440 mm front and 410 mm rear discs, along with high-performance pads to deliver even stronger, more consistent deceleration under hard use.
The Manthey kit also introduces power adjustability for the first time on a Porsche. In its most aggressive setting, output is increased to 600 kW (816 hp) and 1,270 Nm — up by 20 kW (27 hp) and 30 Nm over the standard Taycan Turbo GT. In attack mode, a temporary boost delivers an additional 130 kW for 10 seconds, lifting peak output from 700 kW (952 hp) in the standard model to 730 kW (993 hp).
To qualify for official record attempts, the car and its setup must be available for public purchase. In line with this requirement, Porsche says that the record-breaking Manthey kit will be offered from June as a retrofit package for all examples of the Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Package.
It’s worth noting that the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra did set an even quicker 6:46.874 lap — though it was achieved in prototype form and not under the production electric executive car category. With Porsche now firmly back on top, the question is what comes next in this increasingly intense EV lap war — will it be further developments of the BYD Yangwang U9 Xtreme, more extreme versions of the SU7, or even the Rimac Nevera pushing the benchmark even lower?
