Limited Edition Porsche 911 Turbo “50 Years” debuts – 1,974 units only

Porsche is celebrating 50 years of the Porsche 911 Turbo with the limited edition “Porsche 911 Turbo 50 Years”. With only 1,974 units produced as an ode to the year that the 930 911 Turbo made its debut, the Porsche 911 Turbo 50 Years is based on the 992.2 Porsche 911 Turbo S.

To make it special on the outside, the 911 Turbo 50 Years gets an exclusive Turbonite exterior colour scheme which is a first for the Porche 911. It also features a special side vinyl which pays tribute to the original Porsche 911 RSR Turbo that was presented at the Frankfurt Motorshow in 1973 (essentially the forerunner to the 911 Turbo). When the 930 911 Turbo made its debut in 1974, it brought the benchmark of turbo technology from Porsche’s race cars like the 917/30 and 917/10 to high-performance production sports cars.

Other special items on the outside of the Porsche 911 Turbo 50 Years include the historical reference of the use of Anthracite Grey on the rear wing blade, rear apron, mirror base, and air intake trims. It also features a special badge with a turbocharger icon and the lettering “Turbo 50” and “1974-2024”.

And just to reaffirm the special “turbo” status that it has, the car even projects a turbocharger icon in the form of LED door projector lights. Completing the look of the Porsche 911 Turbo 50 Years is a set of “911 Turbo S Exclusive Design” wheels in Turbonite finish as standard.

Inside the 911 Turbo 50 Years, the special anniversary treatment can be seen all around the cabin. The seats get the special McKenzie Tartan upholstery across the centre panels and so do the interior door panels. The cabin also gets special Turbonite trims to differentiate it from the “regular” 911 Turbo S.

An illuminated Turbo 50 logo, meanwhile, features on the door kick plates, which are finished in black brushed aluminium. The logo is embroidered into the headrests of the Adaptive Sports Seats Plus. There is also a Turbo 50 logo on the back of the left rear seat. Above the glove compartment is an anniversary plaque in aluminium, which bears both the Turbo 50 logo and the individual limited-edition number of the sports car. The A-pillar, sun visors and roof lining are upholstered in perforated Race-Tex. An analogue Porsche Design Subsecond clock with a special Turbo 50 design adorns the dashboard.

Customers can also opt for the optional “Heritage Design” package to add more historical elements to the special anniversary model. This includes items like a decorative graphic in White and the special Aventurine Green Metallic base colour. The special Heritage Design Package also adds the historic Porsche crest from 1964 on the bonnet as well as the centre caps, and a gold finishing for the Turbo 50 and Porsche Logos at the rear.

In the interior, additional leather features and additional tartan design elements round off the anniversary model. The dashboard trim, glove box and seat backrest inlays are covered with the classic pattern. The historic Porsche crest is mounted on the steering wheel, while the centre console storage compartment bears the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur logo embossed in the leather. The dials in the instrument cluster and the Sport Chrono clock in the Heritage Design Package are finished in green.

Based on the 992.2. Porsche 911 Turbo S, the Porsche 911 Turbo 50 Years is powered by the same flat-6 3.7-litre turbocharged engine that makes 650 hp (metric) and 800 Nm. With an 8-speed PDK, and power sent to all four wheels, the powertrain enables a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 2.7 seconds.

Exclusively for the owners of the 911 Turbo 50 Years, Porsche Design Timepieces is releasing a special timepiece as an homage to the anniversary model. The 911 Turbo 50 Years chronograph is equipped with the COSC-certified Porsche Design WERK 01.200 movement with flyback function. Like the vehicle, the watch is limited to 1,974 units and combines classic design with modern technology.
