BYD has unveiled the first official images of the Seal 06 GT, a new electric hot hatch set to debut at the Chengdu Motor Show. Previously previewed via the Ocean-M concept, the Seal 06 GT will be positioned between the Seal sedan and Dolphin in the BYD lineup.
According to the China Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the BYD Seal 06 GT will offer two powertrain options: rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD). The rear-wheel-drive model features a single electric motor producing 218 hp (metric), while the all-wheel drive variant boasts a dual-motor setup with a combined output of 421 hp (metric).

The dual-motor variant is positioned to compete with the MG4 XPower. Although the competition packs slightly more power at 429 hp, it remains to be seen how the final performance figures will stack up.
Dimension-wise, the Seal 06 GT measures 4,630 mm long, 1,880 mm wide, 1,490 mm tall, and is underpinned by a 2,820 mm wheelbase. Compared to the dimensions of the MG4 XPower which measures 4,287 mm long, 1,836 mm tall, 1,516 mm wide, and is underpinned by a 2,705 mm long wheelbase, the BYD Seal 06 GT is slightly bigger.

The production version of the Seal 06 GT features a more restrained design compared to the aggressive styling of the Ocean-M concept. While retaining certain elements like the notched headlights, full-width taillights, and flush door handles, the Seal 06 GT adopts a more refined aesthetic.
The interior of the Seal 06 GT showcases a modern and organic design aesthetic. The cabin features a spacious layout with a prominent digital instrument cluster and central touchscreen. The dual-layer center console incorporates a circular arrangement of controls for intuitive operation.
