The Proton Saga isn’t the newest kid in the block, but the beloved national car has still continued to find success, even some 39 years since it was first unveiled in Malaysia. In fact, the model has achieved its highest-ever single-month sales figure since 2013 last month, having delivered 7,855 units to new happy owners.
Year-to-date sales figures for the Proton Saga has also grown by 8.8% with 42,693 units sold thus far, compared to 39,251 units in the same period last year, signalling at a strong finish by the end of 2024.
Since the Proton Saga first rolled off the production floor in 1985, the model’s cumulative sales has surpassed 2 million units this year, solidifying its status as the most popular model from a Malaysian automotive brand.
Moving forward, Proton has promised to introduce several “enhancement activities” for the Saga, alongside the other “existing platforms”, in collaboration with Geely. Work on the model upgrades have already started, and will be further bolstered by the establishment of the Proton R&D Centre in China earlier this year, leveraging on Geely’s wide array of resources.
