The long overdue facelift for the Proton X70 has finally been previewed and the big news is that it finally gets Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, among other updates. The 1.8-litre TGDI engine, however, has been dropped together with the Flagship variant, so we are now left with 4 variants of the X70 only.
- Proton X70 Standard
- Proton X70 Executive
- Proton X70 Premium
- Proton X70 Premium X

This facelift of the Proton X70 is rather literal as it now gets a new face from the Geely Boyue Pro, albeit with the typical Proton touches. The new headlights are more upright and flow into the now larger grille which gives the X70 a more prominent nose. Like the X90, the new X70’s grille pattern is also songket-inspired, featuring diamond-like studs. Besides the new grille, the X70 also gets new alloy wheels.
Standard exterior items on the entry-level Proton X90 Standard are the following:
- LED headlights with DRLs
- 17-inch alloy wheels
- Walk-away auto lock
The Executive variant adds
- 18-inch wheels
- Powered tailgate
The Premium variant adds:
- 19-inch alloy wheels
- The Premium X variant adds:
- Panoramic sunroof

As for its powertrain, the 1.8-litre TGDI engine finally bids farewell to the Proton X70 as the 1.5-litre TGDI engine is now the sole powertrain option. According to Proton, the engine and the transmission have both been refined and tuned to provide better combustion efficiency, improved NVH at low speeds, better thermal management, reduced friction, and better fuel economy.
In a slide shared by Proton, it was said that the new X70 has a fuel consumption rate of 7.3 l/100km which is a 4% reduction from the 2022 Proton X70.
- Engine: 1.5-litre TGDI
- Transmission: 7-speed DCT
- Maximum power output: 177 hp (metric)
- Maximum torque: 255 Nm
- Fuel consumption: 7.3 l/100km

As for the interior, the X70 revamps its outgoing dashboard with a revised middle trim, ambient lighting, as well as a new 12.3-inch floating head unit that now supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The instrument cluster has also been updated alongside the new steering wheel and door trims.
Fitted as standard on the inside of the entry-level Proton X70 standard are:
- Fabric seats
- 12.3-inch touchscreen head unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- New LCD meter combination
- Remote engine start
The Executive variant adds:
- Powered driver seat
- Front ventilated seats
- Leatherette seats
The Premium variant adds:
- Powered front passenger seat
- Ambient lighting
- Nappa leather seats
The Premium variant adds:
- Panoramic sunroof

In the safety department, the Proton X70 has been improved with some additional safety items that we have become familiar with through the X90. The new safety items include:
- Intelligent Cruise Control
- Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go
- Lane Departure Prevention
- Lane Centering Control
- Traffic Sign Information
- Rear Collision Warning
- Rear Cross-traffic alert
With its new updates, the Proton X70 facelift can now compete again with the rest of the C-segment SUVs.
