Zeekr 7X EV unveiled as the 007’s SUV cousin – up to 646hp, 800V architecture

Geely’s subbrand, Zeekr, has just unveiled its latest SUV model, the Zeekr 7X. Previously teased with the codename CX1E, wearing a bright orange camouflage wrap, the SUV has now been shown to the world uncovered and will compete against the likes of the Tesla Model Y. The Zeekr X is also said to be sold at a price range of RMB240,000 (approx. RM154,684) and RMB350,000 (approx. RM225,581) according to CarNewsChina.

Like its Zeekr 007 sedan sibling, the Zeekr 7X is built on the PMA2+ platform, which is a derivative of Geely’s Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA). It also sports an 800 V electrical architecture, making it possible for it to support super-fast charging.

Looking essentially like an SUV version of the 007 sedan, the Zeekr 7X sports futuristic-looking LED headlights and taillights that extend from one end to another, an interactive light strip located just above the headlights, and a pair of “frameless” side-view mirrors. There’s also a LiDAR sensor on its roof, very much like with the Volvo EX90. Unlike the 007, the Zeekr 7X features retractable flush door handles, instead of touch buttons that are “hidden” within the pillars.

Powering the Zeekr 7X are silicon carbide motors with either lithium iron phosphate (LFP) or nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) batteries, depending on the variant chosen. The entry-level model will get Geely’s “Golden Brick” LFP battery, which can be charged from 10 to 80% state-of-charge (SoC) in just 15 minutes. The higher-end variants will sport NMC battery packs from CATL instead.

Although no official figures have been provided, the Zeekr 7X is said to be offered with single-motor rear-wheel drive (RWD) and dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) powertrains. The former is claimed to put out 646 hp (metric).

Zeekr has yet to publish any photos of the Zeekr 7X’s interior. However, some spyshots that have surfaced online show the 7X sporting a minimalist-looking interior, much like the 007, sporting a curved instrument display, and a “floating” centre touchscreen display, but with a new three-spoke steering wheel design. Could the Zeekr 7X give the Tesla Model Y a run for its money?
