The C63’s latest iteration has finally landed in Malaysia. Yes, the 4-cylinder 2024 Mercedes-AMG C63 S E Performance is now officially available in the Malaysian market, selling for RM958,888 (OTR without insurance) in the Mercedes-AMG C63 S E Performance F1 Edition guise.
The biggest news here is its new 4-cylinder plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain instead of the usual V8 that we have become accustomed to. Starting as a naturally aspirated V8 in the W204 C63 S, the 8-cylinder mill was then downsized and turbocharged, and now it has dropped one bank of cylinders altogether. And while the new engine doesn’t sound too exciting, this version of the C63 S is the most powerful of them all, putting out 680 hp and 1,020 Nm.
The C63 S E’s new powertrain is all about performance (and not sound) as it can launch the car from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds. And just in case you were wondering, the PHEV system also gets a 6.1 kWh battery pack that gives the car a pure electric range of 13 km. Trivial facts aside, the C63 S E Performance is also equipped with a “Drift” mode in case you’re in the mood for some sideways action. We haven’t had the chance to drive it just yet, but here’s a quick walkaround of the new C63 S.
Since we get the F1 Edition in Malaysia, the exterior gets these red accents all around, even on the wheels. The AMG C63 S E Performance already widens the W206 C-Class, so the F1 Edition treatments just amp things up on the car. Other exterior features worth mentioning include the AMG Night Package and the red brake calipers.

Inside, things get spruced up with AMG Performance seats, an AMG Performance steering wheel, and F1 Edition floor mats. The general layout of the W206 C-Class’s cabin is retained, albeit with some other AMG treatments.
Upon its debut, the W206 Mercedes-AMG C63 S E Performance divided opinions with its new 4-cylinder engine and plug-in hybrid system. The new engine is touted as the most powerful 4-cylinder engine ever, but is it enough to make up for the visceral experience that the good old V8 provided?
