Video: The Tesla Cybertruck is here in Malaysia… or is it?

The Tesla Cybertruck has just been showcased here in Malaysia last week, and no, it isn’t for sale here just yet, at least for the time being. Tesla Malaysia brought in the interesting-looking pickup truck to the country not just to let Malaysians check it out but also to showcase the carmaker’s latest technologies.

Having made its global debut late last year, the Tesla Cybertruck is offered in three variants, namely the top-of-the-range Cyberbeast, the All-Wheel Drive which is the one showcased in Malaysia, as well as the entry level-Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD). The RWD won’t be available until 2025, however.

Bearing a rather unique or weird-looking exterior, depending on who you ask, the Tesla Cybertruck doesn’t only look tough, but does actually mean business. For starters, its stainless-steel exoskeleton is claimed to not only help with reducing dents and damages but also long-term corrosion. The armour glass fitted onto the Cybertruck is also said to be able to resist the impact of a baseball at 112 km/h or class 4 hail.

Powering the Tesla Cybertruck Cyberbeast is a tri-motor powertrain that feeds 845 hp to all four wheels. This allows it to perform the century sprint in just 2.7 seconds, and achieve a top speed of 209 km/h. Its all-electric range is rated at 515 km.

The AWD variant on the other hand sports a dual-motor setup that provides its four wheels with 600 hp, enabling the pickup truck to go from a standstill to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds and achieve a top speed of 180 km/h. The Tesla Cybertruck AWD’s all-electric range is rated at 547 km.

Last but not least, the Tesla Cybertruck RWD, just like its name suggests is powered by a single motor setup at the rear. Its 0-100 km/h sprint time and top speed are rated at 6.7 seconds and 180 km/h. With a fully charged battery, Cybertruck RWD can carry you as far as 402 km.
