Alfa Romeo Milano debuts as brand’s first EV – up to 410km range, 240hp

Alfa Romeo has just debuted its first-ever all-electric model, the Alfa Romeo Milano. Also available with a mild hybrid powertrain, the Milano is positioned as a compact premium crossover and will see itself competing against the likes of the Volvo EX30, Lexus LBX, and the upcoming MINI Aceman.

Measuring approximately 4,170 mm long, 1,780 mm wide, and 1,500 mm tall, the Alfa Romeo Milano is essentially smaller than both the Volvo EX30 and Lexus LBX. When compared to the MINI Aceman, the Milano measures slightly larger.

On the outside, the Alfa Romeo Milano packs a sporty design, together with a front fascia that is highly reminiscent of an Alfa Romeo, partly thanks to the iconic Scudetto shield. The all-electric crossover’s proportions are set out with stylistic features relating to tradition, and the muscular wheel arches and the iconic ‘kamm tail,’ a reference to the brand’s Giulia TZ. Also equipped with the Alfa Romeo Milano are the adaptive Full LED Matrix headlights and a set of 20-inch wheels.

On the performance side of things, the Alfa Romeo Milano is available with three powertrain options, namely the base mild hybrid variant that produces 136 hp (metric), the Elettrica that makes 156 hp (metric), and the more powerful Elettrica Veloce that puts out 240 hp (metric). Thanks to a 54 kWh battery pack, the Elettrica variant is said to be able to travel up to 410 km (WLTP) on a single charge.

Being the performance-oriented variant, the Alfa Romeo Milano Veloce comes with a series of sporty equipment. This includes sports suspension that has been lowered by 25 mm, front and rear anti-roll bars, 380 mm front discs with four-piston monobloc callipers, and a Torsen limited-slip differential.

The Alfa Romeo Milano mild hybrid powertrain consists of a 1.2-litre Atkinson-cycle 3-cylinder petrol engine and an electric motor. Paired with a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT), its system output is rated at 136 hp (metric).

Moving inside the Alfa Romeo Milano, you also get a sporty-looking cabin, matching its exterior. The crossover is kitted with equipment such as a 10.25-inch instrument display, and a 10.25-inch central touchscreen head unit which comes with the Hey Alfa virtual assistant and ChatGPT voice assistant. Its aircon vents have been designed in the shape of a quadrifoglio (four-leaf cover).

Aside from just looking sporty, the Alfa Romeo Milano is also just as capable of serving you and your family on the practical side of things. The Milano sports a 400-litre boot space, which is claimed to be the largest in its class for an all-electric crossover. There is also the Alfa Romeo Cable Organiser located under the bonnet.

In the safety department, the Alfa Romeo Milano is equipped with a series of driver assistance features, including the option of Level 2 autonomous driving. It also sports a series of parking sensors, a 180-degree rear camera, and a semi-autonomous parking system.

To celebrate the debut of its first electric vehicle (EV), Alfa Romeo has also introduced the Milano Speciale Elettrica launch edition. Essentially a special edition model of the 156 hp base variant, the Milano Speciale Elettrica is kitted with the “Progresso” badge and a set of 18-inch Petali alloy wheels. Inside, the special edition Milano comes with the Spiga vinyl and fabric interior, a powered driver seat with massage function, and 8-colour interior lighting.

Order books for the Alfa Romeo Milano are set to open in early summer. The crossover will be made at Stellantis’ plant in Tychy, Poland together with the Jeep Avenger and Fiat 600, which also feature the same Common Modular Platform (CMP).
