New products, Scantrust app and emphatic wins at the Motul Sepang 12 Hours of Sepang



Last weekend, the Motul 12 Hours of Sepang held on the 15th and 16th of March 2023, with Motul Malaysia as title sponsors, saw 17 teams compete across several categories.

The overall win and 1st place in the GT3 AM was clinched by Team #44 R&B Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R crew of Yuan Bo, Lu Wei and Ye Honghi, after winning the Shanghai 8 Hours in 2023. Coming in second were Francois Beziac, Heremana Malmezac and Jono Lester of Prime Speed Sport Aston Martin Vantage GT3 EVO II in car #73 and in third was Team Climax Racing Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II Ruoyu in car #777.

In the GT3 category, Team Absolute Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R in car #911 came in first, driven by Andrew Haryanto, Eshan Pieris and Dorian Boccolacci, while in second place was car #26 of Team B-Quik Absolute Racing Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II, piloted by Henk Kiks, Akash Nandy and Christopher Haase. Third place went to #31 Phantom Global Racing Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II driven by Bian Ye, Cheng Congfu and Adderly Fong.

Pole-sitters #710 D1 Racing Team Lamborghini Super Trofeo EVO2 of Hong Shijie, Chen Fangping, He Xinyang and Andre Couto fought back and were first in class from the second hour until the chequered flag.  John Shen, Francis Tjia, Christian Chia and Benny Simonsen in the #216 Modena Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 Cup finished third.

A faultless race in TCR Endurance Asia saw the #326 326 Racing Team Audi RS3 LMS TCR of Wu Yifan, Liu Zichen, Lai Jingwen, Qiu Yiheng and Xiao Kunpeng sealing a win, ahead of Max James Hart, Yan Chuang, Jiang Nan, Liu Qiren in the #18 Z Speed Hyundai N i30 TCR.

The event served as a platform for Motul to strengthen bonds with distributors, partners, professionals, and enthusiasts alike, solidifying its position as a trusted partner in the automotive industry.

Motul hosted a series of exclusive engagement activities, ranging from pit tours with Malaysia-based Viper Niza Racing team, to technical training sessions comparing track and road products.

Additionally, a presentation was given on the CACE (Chemical, Additive, Care, and Essential) product range, on different ranges of gear oils, brake fluids, and coolants (among others). Motul also introduced the Scantrust app, an anti-counterfeit and product traceability solution for Motul products.
