2025 Volkswagen Golf GTI Sepang Edition launched in Malaysia, RM263k

Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has launched the Volkswagen Golf GTI Sepang Edition in Malaysia. Based on the locally assembled (CKD) Golf GTI, the special hot hatch is priced from RM262,990 on-the-road, without insurance.

Much like special Nürburgring editions of other cars, this special Golf GTI is exclusively decorated with Sepang International Circuit (SIC) badging. According to VPCM, this marks not only the first collaboration in Malaysia but also the first car in Malaysia to proudly wear the SIC emblem.

To tell the special Golf GTI apart, a “Sepang Edition” emblem can be seen on the tailgate, along with a UV gloss-finished Sepang Edition emblem on the B-pillar. The car is also decorated with a sporty grey side strip and is fitted with an exclusive Sepang Edition base plate.

Notable add-ons include 18-inch Richmond Gunmetal Grey Matte light-alloy wheels with “GTI” dynamic wheel hub caps, “GTI” valve caps, and a roof, front spoiler, rear diffuser, and side skirts finished in black. The Volkswagen Golf GTI Sepang Edition will be available in two colour options: Atlantic Blue and King’s Red.

Moving inside, the car comes equipped with “GTI” floor mats and a Universal Traffic Recorder 2.0 dashcam for both the front and rear. Additionally, the key comes with a special holder featuring a certificate of authenticity — just in case you forget that your GTI is a Malaysian-exclusive special edition.

Despite being a special “track” edition, the car receives no powertrain upgrades. It retains the familiar 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-four engine producing 245 hp and 370 Nm of torque, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DSG) that drives the front wheels for a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 6.4 seconds.

Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia Managing Director, Renate Noessler, said, “With this Special Edition, we celebrate Malaysia’s rich motorsport heritage and offer enthusiasts the opportunity to own a piece of Malaysia’s motorsport energy; a car named from the track and made for the road. It is truly a statement, and we are honoured to collaborate with Sepang International Circuit on this project – a first for Volkswagen in the region.”

“To be the first automotive brand to collaborate with SIC to introduce a vehicle symbolises our great respect for Malaysia’s racing legacy and our commitment to creating cars with character. This partnership has allowed us to make history together, and we couldn’t be prouder,” he added.

The Volkswagen Golf GTI Sepang Edition is priced from RM262,990 on-the-road without insurance and inclusive of the marque’s comprehensive Volkswagen Assurance Package. The package covers seven years free maintenance, five years unlimited mileage warranty, and five years complimentary roadside assistance.

In conjunction with the launch of the Golf GTI Sepang Edition, VPCM is introducing its first-ever 10.10 sales promotion, offering a 0% interest rate for 10 months. The offer applies exclusively to the special edition model and is limited to the first 10 units registered between 9 and 16 October.
