Proton X90 launched in Bangladesh, planned for CKD by end of 2024

Less than a year since its launch in Malaysia, the Proton X90 has been introduced in several export markets. Its latest one is Bangladesh which welcomes two variants of the X90 – the Premium and the Flagship. There are also local assembly plans for Proton that was announced to take place by the end of 2024.

Just like the Proton X90 in Malaysia, the X90 in Bangladesh is a hybrid-only SUV. It is powered by the same 1.5-litre TGDI BSG engine. The engine itself outputs 177 hp metric and 255 Nm while the belt starter generator (BSG) provides an additional 14 hp (metric) and 52 Nm. The engine is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) and power is sent to the front wheels only.

The two variants offered for Bangladesh are the Premium and the Flagship. The Premium is a 7-seater while the Flagship is a 6-seater, just like the X90 in the Malaysian market. Prices start at BDT 45.90 Lacs (approx. RM197,768) for the Premium variant and top off at BDT 49.90 Lacs for the Flagship variant (approx. RM215,002).

Launched as a fully-imported model for the time being, there are plans to assemble the Proton X90 in Bangladesh by the end of 2024. This was announced by Rancon which is an official distributor of Proton in Bangladesh.

This includes Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Stop N Go, Rear Collision Warning (RCW), Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), and Traffic Sign Information (TSI).

In Malaysia, the Proton X90 is made available in 4 variants – Standard, Executive, Premium, and Flagship. Prices start from RM123,800 for the Standard variant and top off at RM152,800 for the range-topping Flagship variant. The Flagship is the only variant with a 6-seater configuration as the rest adopt a 7-seater configuration.
