Honda E:NP2 & E:NS2 specs revealed, Civic-sized EV with 68.8 kWh battery

The Honda E:NP2 and E:NS2 concept electric vehicle (EV) concept were first revealed to the world at Auto Shanghai 2023. Just recently, certain specs and photos of the production versions of the Honda EVs have been published by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

Made for the Chinese market, the Honda E:NP2 is developed by GAC Honda while the E:NS2 is developed by Dongfeng Honda. Expected to be launched in the country this year, Honda’s Chinese partners have also put out teasers for the EVs, and have opened enquiries for the models on their respective websites.

Looking at the photos of the Honda E:NP2 and E:NS2, the car looks pretty much similar to the concept model, except for the flush door handles which have been swapped out for normal door handles.

The upcoming E:NP2 and E:NS2 seemed to have been designed from the ground up, with no obvious reference to any existing Honda models. However, it sort of reminds us of what a Civic EV would look like.

On the outside, the Honda E:NP2 and E:NS2 are fitted with a set of boomerang-shaped LED headlights along with aero wheels. Round the back, the cars have adopted a sloping roof design, which provides a fastback look. The rear lights design extends across the width of the car and also reflects the headlights’ boomerang shape.

Inside, the Honda E:NP2 and E:NS2 sports a minimalistic interior, just like many other EVs out there. The centre console is disconnected from the dashboard, leaving some space in between, which should help the car feel more roomy.

There is also a fully digital instrument display, along with an infotainment head unit in the middle. The steering wheel looks familiar to the ones found inside other Honda models such as the CR-V and Civic, albeit with the Honda logo replaced by the Honda script, a more squared-out design, and a different third spoke .

According to a post made by Tycho de Feijter on X (Twitter), the Honda E:NP2 and E:NS2 both sit on the Honda E:N Architecture F platform. Dimension-wise the Honda E:NP2 and E:NS2 measures 4,787 mm long, 1,838 mm wide, 1,570 mm tall, with a wheelbase that measures 2,735 mm long, just like the Civic.

Powering the car is a front-mounted single electric motor setup that pushes out 150 kW (204 hp). Together with a 68.8 kWh CATL lithium-ion battery, the Honda E:NP2 E:NS2 can achieve a top speed of 160 km/h.

Will this new series of EVs from Honda be exported to markets outside of China, or will they be made exclusive to the Chinese market only? Only time can tell.
