Gallery: 2023 Isuzu D-Max 1.9L Standard – All you ever need in a pick-up truck

If you’re looking for a pick-up truck as your daily workhorse and you want value for money, look no further than the Isuzu D-Max 1.9 Standard. The manual variant of the Isuzu D-Max Standard starts from RM107,599 while the automatic variant is RM7,400 more at RM114,999. Both prices are on the road without insurance. What you see here is the updated 2023 Isuzu D-Max in the automatic variant.

The Isuzu D-Max gets a dual-tone grille garnish upfront with 2 thicker horizontal slats at the top and thinner ones at the bottom. The headlights on the D-Max are bi-LED projectors complemented by “U-shaped” DRLs. Underneath the headlights are halogen foglights and indicators.

On the sides, you get the traditional double-cab pick-up truck silhouette. The door handles of the Isuzu D-Max are now body-coloured as part of the update. The Isuzu D-Max also rides on 17-inch alloy wheels.

Towards the rear, the D-Max gets a combination of LED rear lights and halogen reverse lights and indicators. The tailgate handle is also body coloured instead of silver like the door handles.

The Isuzu D-Max uses a 1.9-litre turbodiesel engine which produces 150 hp and 350 Nm. Power can be sent to all 4-wheels via an automatic transmission, as well as a Terrain Command shift-on-the-fly 4×4 system. A rear differential lock function is also available for better traction and stability in challenging road conditions.

Moving inside, you get a pretty basic black interior with black fabric seats. Being one of the most affordable and entry-level pick-up trucks, you’ll nostalgically find an analogue instrument cluster (with a 4.2-inch TFT-coloured display), a handbrake lever, an actual “car key”, and manual climate control knobs.

The head unit on the D-Max Standard is a 7-inch touchscreen display with Bluetooth connectivity. Audio can be played via the 6-speaker set-up. The screen is also connected to the reverse camera. As for charging, there is a 12V socket, a USB Type A, and USB Type C charging ports.

You can find multiple storage spaces integrated into the dashboard: one in the middle of the dashboard and two on the passenger side.
