2023 Isuzu D-Max 1.9L Standard updated in Malaysia – reverse camera now standard, from RM106k

Following the launch of the updated 2023 Isuzu D-Max earlier this year, Isuzu Malaysia has now announced the refreshed 1.9L Standard variant, featuring a revised equipment list, and a slight RM1,500 price increase across the board.

The new 2023 Isuzu D-Max 1.9L Standard now starts at RM105,599.20 for the manual variant, while the automatic is priced at RM112,999.20. Both prices are on-the-road and without insurance.

Exterior design tweaks on the new 2023 models are minimal, with the press release only listing the new body-coloured door and tailgate handles, both of which were previously in silver. As part of the previous 2023 update, though, the grille garnish up front also now gets a two-tone look.

Otherwise, the rest of the exterior equipment list for the 1.9L Standard variants is completely unchanged, including the 17-inch alloy wheels, bulb combination tail lamps, and halogen fog lights. As before, the automatic 1.9L Standard variant is equipped with bi-LED projector headlights with LED daytime-running lights, but the manual model retains its halogen items.

Also unchanged is the 1.9-litre inline-four turbodiesel mill underneath the bonnet, with outputs of 150 hp and 350 Nm sent to all-four wheels via a six-speed automatic or manual transmission, as well as a Terrain Command shift-on-the-fly 4×4 system.

As part of the earlier 2023 update, the Isuzu D-Max 1.9L Standard variants are also now equipped with new electronic locking differential on the rear axle, as is standard on all four-wheel drive variants in Malaysia.

The highlight of the updated 2023 Isuzu D-Max 1.9L Standard is its improved safety, courtesy of the reversing camera that now comes as standard on both automatic and manual options. Image from the camera is displayed on a new 7-inch touchscreen head unit with USB and Bluetooth connectivity, but Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is only reserved for the higher-end variants.

With the new update, Isuzu Malaysia says that it’s now the first manufacturer in Malaysia to provide a reverse camera feature across its entire double-cab range.

Aside from the new head unit, the only other update to the interior of the new 2023 Isuzu D-Max 1.9L Standard variants are the new USB ports up front, including one USB Type A and one Type C port. The fabric upholstery, analogue e-Lumax instrument cluster, manual seat adjustments, and manual air-con all remain unchanged from before.
