It has been confirmed that the upcoming sedan by Proton is the Proton S70. Proton has also opened bookings for its new sedan with a RM500 booking fee. With its official images released, we have taken the liberty of photo-manipulating it to visualize what an “R3” version of the S70 may look like. After all, even the Proton X50 has been granted with one that has been launched recently. Here are some of our render attempts at the Proton S70 R3.
As per standard modern-day R3 practice, we have imagined the S70 R3 with yellow accents and a full body kit to match. Even the side mirrors have been given yellow accents to fit with the R3 theme along with a set of black set of wheels. The imagined R3 S70 also gets a trunk spoiler just to complete the look.

Proton has already revealed that the Proton S70 will be powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine that will be paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). So far, we’re expecting it to give out the same output figures as the Proton X70 at 177 hp and 255 Nm. If an R3 version of the S70 were to become a reality, it would most likely retain the same powertrain configuration.
Proton has also revealed the interior of the interior of the Proton S70 which sports a large floating infotainment screen and a digital instrument cluster to match. The S70 also sports a sunroof for the first-row occupants.

Just today, Proton also announced that production of the Proton S70 has begun, so we could expect to see the S70 on our Malaysian roads very soon. Proton CEO, Li Chunrong said, “The Proton S70 marks a new chapter for Proton as we return to the family sedan market with a model that is the next step in the evolution of our offerings. We have high hopes it will prove to be popular with current and new Proton fans and help return us to the top of a market segment that was previously led by models such as the Proton Wira, Waja and Prevé.”
Could we expect a Proton S70 R3 in the future? For now, let’s just entertain our own imaginations…
