Video: 2023 Tesla Model 3 Highland, from RM189k

In just a few months Tesla Malaysia has launched two of its electric models. Us Malaysians have now received the Tesla Model 3 Highland facelift with its prices starting from RM189,000 for the RWD variant and RM218,000 for the Long Range AWD variant. Both variants can be further equipped with further options.

Although it may look like a simple literal “facelift”, Tesla has actually changed about 50% of the Tesla Model 3 with this updated version. Malaysia is one the few countries to first welcome as the older version is still being sold elsewhere. You may have heard the Tesla Model 3’s interesting quirks already, so let’s get straight into the video to explore them together with Eu Jin.

In its most basic form, the Tesla Model 3 is a single-motor RWD electric car with an all-electric range of 513 km. It does the century sprint in 6.1 seconds which is pretty standard for a single-motor electric car. Charging can be done at a maximum rate of 170 kW with DC charging in the Model 3 RWD.

The second drivetrain option for the Tesla Model 3 is the Model 3 Long Range AWD which, as its name suggests, has a longer all-electric range and a dual-motor all-wheel drive setup. The Model 3 Long Range All Wheel Drive has an electric range of up to 629 km (WLTP), a century sprint time of 4.4 seconds, and a maximum DC charging speed of 250 kW.

Like an Air Asia flight, the Tesla Model 3 comes as standard with little to no options. There is only one standard colour and if you want anything other than white you can opt for the following colour choices at extra cost

  • Solid Black Colour – RM5,000
  • Deep Blue Metallic – RM5,000
  • Stealth Grey – RM7,500
  • Ultra Red – RM11,000
  • 19-inch Nova Wheels – RM7,500

Other optional items on the Tesla Model 3 include Enhanced AutoPilot which will cost an additional RM16,000 and Full-Self Driving which will cost an additional RM32,000.

Deliveries of the Tesla Model 3 Highland facelift in Malaysia are expected to begin before the end of 2023. Its deliveries will precede deliveries of the Tesla Model Y.
