You can now pay for parking directly on Proton’s ATLAS infotainment screen, only in Kuching for now

ACO Tech, the joint venture company owned by Proton, Altel, and ECarX, recently announced the integration of ‘Pay & Go’, Sarawak’s home-grown smart payment system for off-street parking, into its ATLAS operating system used in Proton cars.

The new Pay & Go integration is currently only available on the Proton X70, but the company says it will soon make its way into other connected Proton models via an over-the-air (OTA) update, starting with the X series SUV models.

The integration will allow users to make parking payments directly in-car with just a tap on the built-in infotainment display, doing away with physical parking tickets or the need to scramble for your phones, thanks to the licence plate recognition system that the Pay & Go service employs.

Once users save their cars’ number plates in their Pay & Go account, they can use the credits purchased in-app to make payments directly from the car before approaching the exit. Currently, credits can be purchased via QR payments through the app on the infotainment display, but upcoming software updates will also enable users to pay directly from their ATLAS Pay e-wallet.

Pay & Go services are currently available in 28 locations primarily in Kuching, but the company says will soon expand to more areas nationwide, including Klang Valley.

Pay & Go chief Executive Officer, Eddie Wee added, “Pay & Go is more than just a Smart Parking Solutions provider. Our value proposition is enabling lifestyle convenience for users. We have plans to roll out more features in the ATLAS system such as eReservation for F&B and Parking Space Reservation, among other things, in the near future.”
