Chery Malaysia begins deliveries of CKD Omoda 5 and Tiggo 8 Pro

Chery Malaysia has now begun deliveries of the locally-assembled (CKD) Omoda 5 and Tiggo 8 Pro models to its customers, following the completion of the first pre-delivery inspections (PDI) late last month.

It’s a slight delay compared to its initial expected delivery timelines, which Chery Malaysia explains is due to the stringent quality standards the company imposes on every vehicle rolling off its production floor in Kulim, Kedah.

“Unlike a single inspection, Chery Malaysia has implemented multiple rounds of PDI checks. Each of these rounds is meticulously conducted on every aspect of the vehicle, from mechanical components to safety features, and even aesthetic details,” the company said in a statement.

Recognising its struggles, the company has been making adjustments to its production process in order to speed up deliveries.

“Chery has been accelerating progress in various aspects in Malaysia, from production line standards to dealer process standardization, from spare parts inventory to the establishment of after-sales service centers, ensuring both product quality and service excellence,” said Chery Malaysia Executive Vice President, Leo Chen.

Chery made its official comeback into Malaysia in July this year, with the Omoda 5 and Tiggo 8 Pro models both debuting in CKD form, in a show of the company’s commitment to the Malaysian market.

The Chery Omoda 5 is available in two variants, starting at RM108,800 for the entry-level C variant. As for the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro, the seven-seater SUV is priced at RM159,800 on-the-road and without insurance for its single variant.
