Chery Malaysia sold over 3,000 cars in 10 days since launch

In just a short 10 days since its official return to the country, Chery Malaysia has already recorded more than 3,000 orders placed for its two SUVs, the Tiggo 8 Pro and Omoda 5, which the company says is a record for the marque globally.

While the company did not provide a sales figure breakdown for its models, the press release does highlight its 10-year/1,000,000 km engine warranty extension offered as complimentary to the first 3,000 customers, which is likely a main driving force behind its impressive sales performance thus far.

The warranty extension is otherwise a RM2,000 option, offering customers three extra years of warranty coverage for the powertrain components on top of the standard seven-year/150,000 km warranty. According to Chery Malaysia Vice President Lee Wen Hsiang, the extended warranty is also transferable to the next owner in the event that the car is sold.

Chery Malaysia currently has 23 “ready to serve” showroom outlets operational, with eight more to open by the end of August 2023. As for aftersales services, Chery Malaysia currently has a network of 22 service centres with “spare parts readiness” operational in the country across Peninsular and East Malaysia.

Chery Malaysia marked its return into the nation earlier this month with the launch of its two highly awaited SUVs, the Omoda 5 and Tiggo 8 Pro. The former is a B-segment crossover competing against the likes of the Honda HR-V and Proton X50, while the latter is its flagship seven-seater model, sizing up against the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace and other C-segment SUVs.

Aside from an impressive warranty coverage, both models also stand out in the market with their attractive pricing – the Chery Omoda 5 in Malaysia starts from RM108,800, while the Tiggo 8 Pro retails at RM159,800. Both models are locally assembled at the Inokom plant in Kulim, Kedah.
