600 Isuzu D-Max owners in Malaysia celebrated Merdeka in style

Isuzu Malaysia celebrated the nation’s Independence Day this year with the Merdeka Convoy 66 event, which saw some 600 Isuzu D-Max owners around the country gathering together for a drive together, making it the largest ever simultaneous parade of the Isuzu D-Max pick-up truck in the country.

The event was organised in collaboration with the company’s authorised dealerships, with parades held in 29 locations around the country on Merdeka morning. The cars involved in the convoy were decked out in commemorative decals and flags, while participants also donned an exclusive event t-shirt to celebrate the country’s 66th year of independence.

Aside from the convoy drive, some of the dealers also held fringe activities in conjunction to the event, including visits to a durian farm, beach, rainforest resort, and shopping malls, with one even organising a short off-road drive for its owners.

Isuzu Malaysia Chief Operating Officer Kenkichi Sogo who flagged off the Merdeka 66 Convoy at the Isuzu Jinjang outlet in Kuala Lumpur, said that the event was a means for dealers to engage with owners, while also celebrating the special bond between Malaysians.

“While our aim was to create a meaningful Merdeka celebration this year among our dealers and D-Max owners, we also wanted to celebrate this sense of unity that is so unique and apparent in Malaysia with a unified activity that transcends borders,” said Sogo.
