After a five-year “break”, the KL International Motor Show (KLIMS) has just been confirmed to be making its comeback next year (2024). This is according to an official announcement made by the Malaysia Automotive Association (MAA) today during its bi-annual performance report.
The last KLIMS was held back in 2018 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC). And among the many interesting cars showcased at the motor show include the then brand new Proton X70, the Perodua Myvi GT Concept, the 2018 Toyota Vios facelift, the Toyota FT-1 Concept which eventually became the A90 Toyota Supra, the Lexus ES, and so much more.

After a five-year hiatus, we can expect to see a drastic change to the cars that will be at the next KLIMS. This is because there are many new brands that have entered (and re-entered) the Malaysian market in the past few years, such as BYD and Chery. Besides, the electric vehicle (EV) market in Malaysia has also grown significantly since 2018.
Being an international auto show, one could also expect to see concept cars being displayed, as well as some interesting cars from our local carmakers, such as the Perodua Myvi GT Concept that was displayed at KLIMS 2018. Perhaps we might see a Perodua Ativa GT or an Axia GT next year?

No further details regarding the upcoming 2024 KLIMS have been announced just yet. But we believe fans of the motor show are surely happy to hear that it is coming back. The motor show is also a good opportunity to help develop the local automotive business.
