Here’s your first look at the all-new 2023 Mitsubishi Triton – global debut on 26 July

Mitsubishi Motors has announced that the all-new 2023 Mitsubishi Triton will be making its world premiere in Thailand on July 26. As part of the announcement, the carmaker also included a couple of teaser photos of the next-generation one-tonne pick-up truck, giving us a first look at the all-new Mitsubishi Triton.

As is standard for all teasers, the pick-up truck in these photos is pretty much completely shrouded in darkness. There are, of course, still some details we can pick out though – including the reimagined Dynamic Shield face that now features a much more prominent front grille in the centre, giving the all-new 2023 Mitsubishi Triton a much more aggressive appearance.

In fact, Mitsubishi says that the all-new Triton is designed around a “Beast Mode” concept, and as such it prevalently features many tough and rugged motif on the outside, most notably the upright lines on the bumpers, and the strong character lines on the sides that emphasises on its wide wheel arches.

The headlights retain the same split design as before, but now significantly modernised with a T-shaped signature for the main headlight assemblies, seemingly inspired by the new Xpander facelift. Round the back, the taillights now feature a T-shaped light signature – a new family design element as seen on many of the marque’s new concept vehicles.

Mitsubishi didn’t provide any photos for the interior, but a “design teaser” video published on its YouTube page does give us a quick glance. From what we can see, the dashboard will mirror the upright design motif of its exterior styling, accentuated by the free-standing infotainment display in the centre.

Despite modern design trends, the all-new Mitsubishi Triton also seem to retain many of its physical controls on the interior, with a bank of toggle switches underneath the central air vents, plus physical gear levers and the Super Select all-wheel drive switch on the centre console.

“The all-new Triton has been completely reimagined under the design concept Beast Mode, or audacious and daring,” said Mitsubishi Motors division general manager of design, Seiji Watanabe. “While expressing the toughness and powerfulness expected of a pickup truck, the all-new Triton combines agility with the brand’s robust design to create an imposing look. Tough and reliable, the all-new Triton will make customers want to go on any adventure.”

Based on the short teaser video, it appears that there could also be a range-topping variant, replete with a raised air intakes first seen on the Mitsubishi XRT concept. Could we finally see a Ranger Raptor-rivalling off-road racer from Mitsubishi?
