2023 Ford Ranger Raptor now available with 2.0L Bi-Turbo Diesel – RM248,888

First introduced in Malaysia last year, the 2023 Ford Ranger Raptor is now also offered here with a 2.0-litre bi-turbo diesel engine underneath its hood. The change in powertrain also brought about a slight reduction in price, with the Ranger Raptor now starting at RM248,888 here in Malaysia.

The bi-turbo diesel mill is essentially the same unit from the outgoing last-gen Ranger Raptor, making 210 hp and 500 Nm of torque, paired to a similar 10-speed automatic gearbox with SelectShift – though that is about the extent of the similarities between the two. The Diesel variant gets only rear locking differentials, as compared to the front-and-rear locking units on the V6.

Everything else in the drivetrain have all been upgraded for the latest-generation model, including the full-time all-wheel drive system and Terrain Management System software with a much-improved Baja drive mode that continuously spools up the turbochargers for three seconds after lifting off the throttle, giving the driver a better throttle response out of corners.

Of course, the signature Fox shock absorbers are also still here, featuring the latest 2.5-inch Internal Bypass system filled with Teflon-infused oil that reduces friction by around 50% compared to the previous Raptor. The Diesel Raptor does, however, lose out on the adaptive system that’s present on the V6 variant.

And to handle all the abuse you’ll be throwing at it while jumping sand dunes, the Ford Ranger Raptor’s chassis has also been significantly reinforced with model-specific parts on the pillars, bumper frames, shock towers, and suspension set-up. How strong is it? Imagine conquering the Baja 1000 rally, then driving home in the very same car right after. Yup, the Ranger Raptor did that.

The new diesel variant shares the same aggressive appearance as its V6 counterpart, marked out by the large FORD lettering on the grille, unique standalone bumpers, flared wheel arches, Ford Performance scuff plates, cast aluminium side steps, and 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in the massive BFGoodrich all-terrain KO2 tyres.

It’s also the same story inside, sharing the same overall cabin design as its sibling. Interior equipment here include the 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster and 12-inch touchscreen infotainment display, the latter running Ford’s Sync 4A software with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, leather upholstery, magnesium paddle shifters, an eight-speaker Bang and Olufsen sound system, and a wireless charging pad, all highlighted by the Code Orange accents throughout the cabin.

The 2023 Ford Ranger Raptor 2.0L Bi-Turbo Diesel also comes equipped with the same suite of active driver assistance features as the V6 variant, including autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go functions, lane centring, blind-spot monitor, reverse brake assist, evasive steer assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and a 360-degree surround monitor with off-road views.

Pricing for the new 2023 Ford Ranger Raptor 2.0L Bi-Turbo Diesel starts at RM248,888, making it some RM11,000 cheaper than the V6 counterpart. Included in the price is a five-year/160,000 km warranty, which can be extended up to seven years with the optional PremiumCare extended warranty package.

To celebrate the launch of the new variant, Sime Darby Auto Connexion (SDAC) is offering the first 300 customers nationwide who make a booking for the new Ford Ranger Raptor 2.0L Bi-Turbo Diesel variant a complementary Kenwood front-and-back dashcam, as well as a RM500 discount on one of the marque’s Ford Getaway events.
