New “luxury” Ford Everest teased for Malaysia – platinum variant coming soon?

Ford Malaysia has teased a new model ahead of the upcoming Sime Darby Motor Expo 2026, posting a dark silhouette image of an SUV’s rear end on its Facebook page. Despite the shadowy teaser, its distinctive tail lamps and overall shape clearly resemble those of the Ford Everest. As the SUV is already offered locally in Sport, Trend, Titanium and Wildtrak variants, this suggests that a Platinum variant could soon join the line-up — matching up with the caption of the post

For a better idea on this more “Luxurious” variant, let’s look at its pickup brother, the Ford Ranger. The Platinum variant is the range-topping variant that sits above the Wildtrak in terms of luxuries — though it doesn’t get the most powerful 3.0-litre V6 turbo diesel.

Instead, the car receives additions such as larger 20-inch wheels, a bigger 12.4-inch centre infotainment screen, and even active park assist.

Interestingly, many of these features that the Platinum Ranger has over the Wildtrak are already available in the Wildtrak Everest. What we might see, instead, could be additional upgrades in creature comforts such as performance LED projector lights, quilted leather seats with heating and ventilation, eight-speaker Bang & Olufsen speakers, nicer interior trims, and ‘Platinum’ metal badging

Being the top-of-the-range Ford Everest, it should also come with the brand’s full suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). Looking at the Ranger, notable features include Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with stop-and-go and lane centring, lane change warning and assistance, Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Brake Assist (BA), and Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB)

On the 2.0-litre Bi-Turbo diesel configuration, the Ranger Platinum is priced from RM192,888, representing a RM21,000 premium over the Ranger Wildtrak. Given that the Everest Wildtrak already starts from RM338,888, the upcoming Everest Platinum could breach the RM350,000 mark when it launches. All prices mentioned are on-the-road, without insurance.
