2023 Proton X90 launched in Malaysia, from RM123,800



Proton has just launched the 2023 Proton X90, its third SUV, third X-series model, and its first hybrid vehicle. Yes, the Proton X90 is available as a hybrid only and runs a 48V mild hybrid system. Prices for the 2023 Proton X90 start at RM123,800 and there are four variants available

  • Proton X90 Standard – RM123,800
  • Proton X90 Executive – RM130,800
  • Proton X90 Premium – RM144,800

You already know that the Proton X90 is based on the Geely Haoyue/Okavango, but the X90 sports the signature Proton look. You get an evolved version of the infinite weave which resembles a ‘songket’ pattern on the grille, the new Proton logo at the front and back, and a Proton lettering on the tailgate. If anything, the X90 sports a serious and elegant look all around. If you’re wondering, the X90 is about the size of a Mazda CX-8, Hyundai Santa Fe, or Kia Sorento.

Powering the Proton X90 is a sole 48V mild hybrid powertrain. The hybrid system consists of a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder TGDI engine and a Bel Starter Generator (BSG). All power is sent to the front wheels only and the X90 utilises a 7-speed DCT. Details of the X90’s hybrid powertrain are as such:

  • Powertrain: 48V mild hybrid system, 1.5L 3-cylinder TGDI engine with BSG
  • System maximum output: 190 hp (metric)
  • System maximum torque: 300 Nm
  • Engine maximum output: 177 hp (metric)
