2023 Proton X90 scores 5-Star ASEAN NCAP rating – Full points for side impact test



Just launched in Malaysia, the results for the 2023 Proton X90’s ASEAN NCAP crash test results are out on the official ASEAN NCAP website. The new large SUV by Proton managed to score a 5-star rating in the crash test with an overall score of 83.75%.

With four pillars in the ASEAN NCAP safety testing, the 2023 Proton X90 managed to score 30.2/32 in the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) Pillar, scoring full 8/8 points in the side impact testing and full 8/8 points for Head Protection Technology (HPT). As for AOP frontal impact, the X90 scored 14.2/16.

As for the Child Occupant Protection (COP) Pillar, the Proton X90 scored 45.37/51, also scoring a perfect 8/8 score on the side impact test. The X90 also managed to get a full 16/16 score for COP frontal impact testing.

In the Safety Assist pillar, the 2023 Proton X90 scored 16.5/21 full 6/6 points for effective braking and avoidance (EBA) and a perfect 3/3 score for Advance Safety Assist Technologies. As for the fourth pillar of the ASEAN NCAP testing which is Motorcycle Safety (MS), the Proton X90 scored 10/16 with a perfect 8/8 score for Blind Spot Detection (BSD) and Blind Spot Visualisation (BSV). It also managed to score a full 2/2 points for pedestrian protection.

In the ‘Premium’ and ‘Flagship’ variants, the Proton X90 is equipped with the full suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Both the Premium and Flagship are equipped with Autonomous Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Prevention, Lane Centering Control, Lane Departure Warning, Emergency Lane Keep Assist, Intelligent Cruise Control, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Lane Change Assist, Intelligent High Beam Control, and Door Opening Warning.

The X90 also introduces several ‘Proton-first’ safety features. This includes Rear Collision Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Traffic Sign Information. Just launched in Malaysia, the Proton X90’s prices start at RM123,800 for the ‘Standard variant and top off at RM152,800 for the range-topping ‘Flagship’ variant.
