EV Perodua eM-O concept car at MAS2023 – 350km range, 800V, Myvi-sized

If you’ve been following Perodua‘s social media pages, you would have seen the brand teasing the Perodua eM-O concept car with the abbreviation standing for “Electric Motion Online”. Well, you can now actually check out Perodua’s concept car at Malaysia Auto Show 2023, albeit being only a scale clay model for the time being.

Despite being only a small clay model for now, the Perodua eM-O concept car previews a rather interesting design direction for Perodua with its angular front end, and continuous taillight design. If any of this were to become a reality in upcoming Perodua production cars, it will make for a rather handsome compact vehicle.

Perodua has also listed some specifications of the eM-O. Firstly, it is a B-segment hatchback like the Perodua Myvi. The official specifications shared by Perodua depict the car to measure 3,895 mm long, 1,735 mm wide, and 1,515 mm tall. Its wheelbase measures 2,500 mm long. As for wheels and tyres, the eM-O supposedly sits on a set of 18-inch wheels wrapped in 225/45R18 tyres.

As for the drivetrain, the number of electric motors is not listed, and neither is the drive configuration. However, Perodua has shared that the eM-O is capable of a maximum power output of 95 hp and a maximum torque of 121 Nm. If anything, the eM-O is no high-performance electric car. The 0-100 km/h acceleration is reportedly done in 10 seconds.

More importantly, the Perodua eM-O concept houses a 50-kWh battery pack that provides an electric range of between 300 km to 350 km. The test cycle used for the range calculation has not been specified. Interestingly, the Perodua eM-O concept is said to be built on an 800 V architecture. This allows for DC charging speeds of up to 300 kW. With 300-kW DC fast charging, it takes approximately 20 minutes for the eM-O concept to charge to 80%. With AC charging (specs not listed), the eM-O takes approximately 7 hours and 30 minutes to fully charge.

For those of you who wish to check out Perodua’s e-MO concept car, you can head to the Malaysia Auto Show 2023 that is happening at MAEPS Serdang. The show will take place from May 4 to 7, 2023.
