Mazda Motor Corporation has just announced the new and updated Mazda 3 which is scheduled for release in early June this year. In Japan and the UK, orders can already be made for the improved Mazda 3, dubbed the 2024 Mazda 3.
Key highlights on the updated Mazda 3 include:

- Remote engine start function
- New 10.25-inch head unit with wireless Apple CarPlay

There are virtually no changes to the exterior except for a new body colour called “Ceramic Metallic” and the “heartbeat” indicators that can be found on the Mazda CX-30. The Mazda 3 also now comes with a remote engine start function. Mazda says it has improved the Mazda 3 in terms of safety, convenience, and comfort.
Inside, the Mazda 3 now features a larger 10.25-inch centre display head unit. Previously, the screen was 8.8 inches in size. The screen now comes with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Smartphone navigation can now be displayed on the Head-up Display (HUD). The cabin is also now equipped with a wireless Qi mobile phone charger and Type-C USB connection.
In terms of safety, the updated Mazda 3 comes with an improved safety system. In addition to its ability to detect obstacles such as cars and walls, the Mazda 3’s safety system can now detect pedestrians. There is also an evolved driver monitoring function with a newly added “Inattentive warning function”. The system can detect if the driver is distracted and will warn the driver using the screen display and an audible alarm.
In regions where Mazda’s full connectivity is available, the Mazda 3 now gets the same features as the Mazda CX-60. It gets the “Mazda My Car Care” and “Driver Care” optional plans.
Announced on Mazda’s official website for now, it is not known when the updated version will reach Malaysia. In Malaysia, the Mazda 3 is currently available in both hatchback and sedan body-style options. Malaysian customers can choose between the 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre naturally aspirated engine options. Prices for the Mazda 3 in Malaysia start at RM143,000.
