Bermaz Motor has just launched the (now) locally-assembled (CKD) Mazda CX-30, after more than two years of the car being sold as a fully imported (CBU) car. The all-wheel drive (AWD) and diesel versions are no longer available and prices for the CX-30 now start at RM128,109 (OTR without insurance) for the ‘Standard’ variant.

Exterior
On the outside, nothing has changed for the Mazda CX-30. It still sports the same signature Mazda ‘Wing’ on the front end and the same triangular motif on the radiator grille. The black claddings all around have also been maintained, continuing to provide a sleek yet rugged look for the CX-30.
Standard exterior equipment for the base CKD Mazda CX-30 includes:

- Rain-sensing windshield wipers with intermittent function

Performance
In terms of powertrain, the biggest change to the Mazda CX-30 is the omission of both the all-wheel drive (AWD) drivetrain (previously available in the Ignite AWD variant) and the diesel engine (previously available in the 1.8L High variant). Across the range, the CKD Mazda CX-30 gets a single powertrain option which is the – 2.0-litre naturally aspirated 4-cylinder option. Details of the powertrain are as such:
- Engine: 2.0-litre naturally aspirated 4-cylinder, DOHC, VVT, SkyActiv-G
- Max. power output: 162 hp @ 6,000rpm
- Max. torque: 213 Nm @ 4,000rpm
- Transmission: 6-speed automatic with Manual Shift Mode, SkyActiv-Drive
- Drivetrain: Front engine, Front-wheel drive (FWD)
- Fuel tank capacity: 51 litres
- Fuel efficiency: 6.4 l/100km



Interior
Like the exterior, the interior of the Mazda CX-30 remains unchanged. Standard interior equipment on the base variant includes:

Safety
In the safety department, the locally-assembled Mazda CX-30 is equipped with driver & front passenger airbags, front side airbags, front & rear curtain airbags, and a knee airbag for the driver. Also standard are features like anti-lock braking system (ABS), Electronic Brake-Force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Traction Control System (TCS), Hill Launch Assist (HLA), and Auto Hold Function.
The base Standard variant gets no advanced safety features. The High variant adds on:

Pricing & Warranty
To recap, the Mazda CX-30’s prices from RM128,109 for the Standard variant up to RM156,109 for the range-topping High+ Premium variant. Premium body colours will incur an additional cost of RM2,000. Included in the price of the CKD Mazda CX-30 are a 5-year/100,000 km manufacturer warranty and a 5-year/100,000 km free maintenance package.
