Gallery: Nissan Serena S-Hybrid Premium Highway Star 7-seater MPV from RM162k

Before the all-new Nissan Serena arrives, here’s a complete and detailed look at the current facelift model which to date, is possibly the best-looking version. Launched last July, there are two variants of the facelift Serena S-Hybrid – the Highway Star at RM149,888 and the Premium Highway Star at RM162,888. The model you see here is the range-topping Premium Highway Star variant.

Firstly, here are the changes from the pre-facelift model. The bulk of the design revisions is shown on the front end that now sports a full-height V-motion grille that stretches down to the front bumper. The chrome trims on the bi-LED headlamps now stretch from the headlamps to the bottom of the grille.

At the rear, the LED taillamps design has been revised with a more futuristic look. The taillamps are also larger than before. Take a closer look and you’ll notice that the taillamps now stretch past the rails for the sliding doors. Overall, the new look of the facelift model gives the impression that the Serena is now finally a finished (polished) product – at least for its generation.

Colour options include Radiant Red, Brilliant White, Tungsten Silver and Diamond Black. The Radiant Red is available only to the Premium Highway Star variant. As standard, the variant also comes with a black roof and 16-inch wheels.

Inside is where the Serena shows off its MPV prowess; with legroom, headroom and even walkways in abundance. There are plenty of storage spaces too – the glovebox, above it, ahead of the steering, by the driver’s left and right knee.

New to the cabin include a larger 9-inch infotainment display (up from 6.75-inches), silver surrounds on the gear lever console and quilted Nappa leather, a first for the Premium Highway Star. Also, larger is the roof-mounted monitor, now 10.1-inches from 11.6.

Standard features include seven USB ports, a 360-degree monitor, six speakers, and hands-free power-sliding doors while exclusive to Premium Highway Star are door visors, V-Kool tinting, and front and rear dashcams. Safety features consist of autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, blindspot monitor, and rear cross-traffic alert, along with six airbags.

The only thing that has remained unchanged is the 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine mated to an Xtronic CVT gearbox. The powertrain drives the front wheels with 150 hp and 200 Nm, aided by an electric motor for better acceleration.
