Following the launch of the Ora Good Cat in Malaysia, Great Wall Motors (GWM) Malaysia will soon bring the Tank 300 into the country. Looking like a smaller version of the Bronco, the Tank 300 is confirmed to launch in Malaysia according to a representative from GWM.
Tank, like Ora, is a brand owned by GWM. Models under the Tank brand include the Tank 300 and Tank 500. The former looks like a small Ford Bronco, while the latter looks like a small GMC Yukon. According to the company’s website, Tank is a high-end SUV brand by GWM that is “committed to leading SUV brands worldwide”.
Powering the Tank 300 is a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine (E20CB) that makes 167 kW (227 hp metric) at 5,500 rpm and 387 Nm at 1,800-3,600 rpm. The turbocharged petrol engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and an electronic part-time 4-wheel drive (4WD) system.
For off-road capabilities, the Tank 300, in its range-topping version gets a central electronic differential lock, a front electronic differential lock, and a rear electronic differential lock. The is also a low-speed transfer case to help you handle off-road terrains.
Like other off-roading vehicles, the Tank 300 is built on a ladder frame. The front suspension is a double-wishbone setup while the rear suspension is a multi-link setup. As standard, the Tank 300 comes with 17-inch wheels, covering ventilated disc brakes on all four corners.

Inside, the Tank 300 is equipped with a twin 12.3-inch display, one dedicated as the central head unit and the other dedicated as the digital instrument cluster. The car comes with its own 3D GPS navigation system and a speech recognition system.
Luxuries in the Tank 300 include power adjustable seats for the driver and front passenger, seat ventilation, and a driver seat waist massager. The Tank 300 also gets a sunroof, ambient lighting, and an off-road dining table.
With its retro looks, the Tank 300 looks like a fun little off-roader. Tough and cute, just like the famous Suzuki Jimny. Set to launch in Malaysia, will the Tank 300 give the Jimny a run for its money?
