Perodua has sold 250,795 cars so far this year, the most in its history

Perodua has posted its monthly sales performance report for November 2022, in which it recorded a 29,149 units sold – the company’s highest-ever monthly sales record at 28,592 units.

The November figure brings Perodua’s year-to-date sales performance to 250,795 units, surpassing its full-year target of 247,800 units with one month to spare, and also the highest sales achievement for the company to date.

And that’s not all – Perodua’s trifecta of celebrations in November also includes its new highest monthly production record since the company’s inception, at 29,149 units.

Commenting on the new record, Perodua President and CEO, Dato’ Sri Zainal Abidin Ahmad said, “This achievement is meaningful on many levels; the first shows our ability to further maximise current resources, both within Perodua and its supplier ecosystem. “

“The second is that through this achievement, we now realise that we can further increase output – both in sales and production – without investing in a new plant or acquiring more land for our manufacturing operations.”

But even as the national carmaker shifts into higher gear to meet demand, Dato’ Sri Zainal Abidin said that Perodua will still continue to invest in upgrading their operations, with an emphasis on upskilling its workforce. “We are also working closely with our suppliers and dealers to ensure that their operations are capable to meet future demand and challenges,” he added.

The 28,592 units sold in November 2022 represents an increase of 40.9% over the company’s performance in the same month last year, and a 10.6% increase over October 2022. November’s sales figure was mostly contributed by the Bezza (8,089 units), Myvi (6,624 units), and Axia (5,812 units).

On a year-on-year comparison, meanwhile, the YTD figure of 250,795 represents a monumental 50% increase over the same period last year – however, the company clarifies that the muted sales figure last year was primarily due to the Covid-19 lock down between June and mid-August.

“We are looking to continue the sales and manufacturing momentum to ensure that all our valued customers will receive their Perodua vehicles quicker, as well as to ensure all those booked their vehicle within the sales tax exempted timeframe will get their cars before 31 March 2023,” Dato’ Sri Zainal added.
