Perodua Alza owners who are also Apple users can now rejoice as the Apple CarPlay has now been enabled. For Alza owners who have already received their cars, they can get the software update during their next service/inspection at Perodua service centres.
It is to be noted that the Apple CarPlay and Android functions are exclusive to the AV variant of the Perodua Alza only. Other variants of Alza adopt the older system similar to the Perodua Ativa that doesn’t support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Alza owners are advised to remind the service centres to make sure they get the latest software update.
The Apple CarPlay connection is wired, similar to the Android Auto connectivity. Previously awaiting approval for MFi (Made for iPhone) certification, the Apple CarPlay function was simply disabled on the 9-inch touchscreen unit. Fortunately for us at AutoBuzz.my, the test car that we received was already equipped with Apple CarPlay, and we have verified that it is working in full.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity are some of the many Perodua-first features on the Alza, besides the Electronic Parking brake with auto hold, 360-degree surround view monitor, and rear disc brakes. If you’re an Alza AV owner who is also an Apple user, make sure to get your car’s infotainment software updated to enable Apple CarPlay.
