Proton offers 1-year warranty for certified pre-owned cars, now underwritten by Allianz

To provide additional peace of mind for buyers of used Proton cars, the national carmaker will be offering a one-year extended warranty for all of its Certified Pre-Owned (PCPO) cars sold via authorised Proton used car outlets.

While the extended-warranty programme is not exactly new, the warranty is now being underwritten by Allianz General Insurance. Under the programme, parts of the engine and transmission that are found to be defective under normal use for the first 25,000 km or 12 months will be repaired or replaced by the warranty provider.

“Proton would like to welcome Allianz as our insurance partner in our effort to provide added assurance to our customers,” said Proton Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Roslan Abdullah. “With the extended warranty, owners of PCPO vehicles are protected from unexpected costs due to mechanical failure for engine and transmission parts.

In addition to the extended warranty programme, all cars sold under the PCPO programme have also underwent a thorough 201-point inspection, and are guaranteed to be free from any flood or major accident damage. Customers are also entitled to a one-time free basic service after six months from the date of purchase.

Since its inception in 2019, Proton’s Used Car Management (UCM) arm has introduced operating procedures and provided training for used car inspectors to manage transactions at each outlet, ensuring that the services provided are in line with the expectations set by the brand. Currently, the company has 36 outlets in the country that retail PCPO vehicles.

Recently, the company also unveiled a dedicated Proton used car website (linked here), allowing tech-savvy buyers to view available stocks without walking into the showroom, or even get an estimated market price if they wish to trade in their used Proton vehicles.
