Chery exported 35,818 cars in June 2022, highest monthly exports in 21 years



Chery sold 35,818 vehicles outside of China in June 2022, setting a new monthly export record for the brand in 21 years. With the June figure accounted for, the first half of 2022 saw a total of 148,000 units exported, with 112,000 of those being new energy vehicles.

In Brazil, Chery ranked ninth among carmakers in the first half of 2022 (1H22). Chery’s sedan model, the Chery Arrizo 6, ranked fourth in cumulative 1H22 sales within the country, with a segment market share of 3.62%. The sedan was even awarded “Best Resale Value in the intermediate segment” by Kelley Blue Book and Quatro Rodas.

Meanwhile, 21,300 units of the Tiggo 8 series models were sold in Brazil from January to June; the series also serves as presidential and state transport in Brazil, alongside several other countries and regions.

Chery also performed well in Chile, commanding 6.7% of 1H22 cumulative sales in the nation and placing it in the top three in terms of sales volume. The carmaker topped the SUV segment in 1H22 with 15.1% market share, led by the Tiggo 2 which sold 6,088 units in 1H22 to rank first in the segment.

Since entering South Africa last year, Chery has maintained a strong growth momentum and good market performance, with a 21.1% month-on-month improvement in terms of cumulative sales from January to May. Chery entered South Africa as a subsidiary in August 2021, and topped the SUV segment in less than 10 months from the product launch.

Chery also embraced its corporate social responsibility in early April 2022, when it held public benefit donation activities to provide water and other supplies to underprivileged areas, to alleviate water shortages caused by typhoon in the Kwazulu-Natal region.

Chery says it will continuously expand its overseas markets, with Malaysia also a part of its plans moving forward.
