Honda Malaysia sold 39,000 cars in H1 2022 – over 60% contributed by City duo



Honda Malaysia announced that it has sold 39,000 cars between January and June 2022, showing a 60% increase over the same period in 2021. With a goal of 80,000 car sales in 2022, Honda Malaysia is well on track to achieving its target.

So far this year, Honda has managed to attain 12% of the Total Industry Volume (TIV). Of the 39,000 cars sold, 39% of sales were the Honda City, 23% were of the Honda City Hatchback, and 18% were of the Honda Civic. The highest number of sales was recorded in March with 10,500 cars sold.

The Honda City has contributed to 39% of sales by Honda Malaysia in the first half of 2022.

As for bookings, Honda Malaysia has received 105,000 bookings between January to June 2022. High demand was seen approaching the end of the Sales Tax exemption period.

Honda Malaysia Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Hironobu Yoshimura said, “Honda Malaysia started 2022 on a high note with the launch of the Civic in January, which left a strong impression in the market with its attractive and premium features.

“Recently in July, we kept the momentum going with the launch of our popular Compact SUV, the All-New HR-V. Since its launch, the all-new model, featuring exceptional styling and advanced technology, has received outstanding response from the market. The positive acceptance of the Honda models helped to boost our sales performance this year.”

The company also thanked the Malaysian government for the extension of the sales tax exempted vehicle registration period. “Honda is working hard to ensure that the new cars are delivered to the customers in a timely manner while maintaining the highest quality,” added Yoshimura.
