Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has lifted the wraps of the latest baby AMG to appeal to an even younger group of buyers with an insatiable appetite for speed and a healthy bank account balance.
The latest offering for the young and vibrant is fully imported and retails for RM348,888 on-the-road without insurance, with 4-years unlimited mileage.
“The Mercedes-AMG A 35 4MATIC is the perfect entry into the world of AMG Driving Performance. With our new A 35, we are transporting the history of AMG into modern times,” says President & CEO of Mercedes-Benz Malaysia, Dr Claus Weidner.
At the heart of this new heartthrob is a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine making 306 hp and 400 Nm of torque paired to an AMG Speedshift 7G DCT. Power is transferred to all four wheels via a 4MATIC all-wheel drive system which can send up to 50% of torque to the rear wheels.
With a launch control feature, 0 to 100 km/h speed is done in just 4.8 seconds. Bear in mind, the new A90 Toyota Supra launched last week that costs RM568k is just 0.5 seconds faster.
It may not win that drag race but the every single pronounced detail on the car such as the twin louvre front grille, rear diffuser and 19-inch AMG five twin-spoke light alloy wheels that make up the angry stance of the AMG 35 will definitely win the hearts of many.
Other fancy kit includes Multibeam LED headlamps with Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus and suspension with Adaptive Damping and torque vectoring. Hiding behind those wheels which perfectly match the design of the AMG 35 are 4-pot calipers in the front and single pot calipers at the back.
Inside, the AMG 35 is adorned with a mix of Artico man-made leather, Dinamica microfibre, red seat belts to go with the 4-way adjustable sports seats and a distinct AMG centre console and AMG Performance steering.
On the instrument panel, the new A 35 features a head up display and twin 10.25-inch screens powered by Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) with “Hey Mercedes” voice control features, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
As for driver aid, the AMG 35 is equipped with a blind spot monitor, autonomous emergency braking and lane keeping assist.
