You’ve probably seen and heard all there is to know about the GR Corolla but Toyota has given us more reason to feel tingly in our sensitive areas with the new GR Corolla Morizo Edition; except this one is a little more exclusive, even against the GR Yaris!
That’s cause only 200 units will be available for the US market while a limited number will be opened to the Japanese market via a ballot system. The name ‘Morizo’ stems from the alter ego of Akio Toyoda, who has given his own input in the development of the Morizo Edition.

The new GR Corolla Morizo serves up 304 hp and 400 Nm (up 30 Nm from standard GR Corolla) from the same 1.6-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged engine found in the GR Yaris.
Like the GR Yaris, it’s made whole with a 6-speed manual gearbox with rev-matching, an all-wheel drive system offering three different drive modes for three different performance characteristics, and a limited-slip differential each for the front and rear wheels. It’s also worth noting that the first three gears in the 6-speed gearbox have shorter ratios than the one in the GR Yaris.
Also exclusive in Morizo are monotube dampers tuned specifically for the car. Compared to the standard GR Corolla, Toyota also ensured that the Morizo Edition would have a stiffer body with additional structural adhesive and braces.
But that doesn’t mean the Morizo is heavier; in fact, the opposite is true as the Morizo Edition is some 30 kg lighter than the standard GR Corolla with the removal of the rear seats. That’s right; unlike the standard GR Corolla, the Morizo Edition is actually a two-seater!
Aside from the 10 mm wider wheels and tyres, the Morizo Edition also gets specially tuned dampers finished in Red. Inside, the inviting bucket seats are wrapped in Ultrasuede/leather material.
The new Toyota Corolla GR Sport is as good-looking as it is arousing!
