The new Toyota Corolla GR Sport is as good looking as it is arousing

Shortly after debuting the Toyota Auris, for the European market at last year’s Geneva Motor Show, Toyota Motor Corporation followed up with the Corolla Sport in Japan that has got us salivating over its existence.

Not long after, the new Toyota Corolla sedan that’s built on the new Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform, was unveiled at the 2018 Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition with the sharpest features ever seen on a Toyota mid-size sedan.

And now there’s this – the stunning new Corolla GR Sport that’s set to go on sale in January 2020.

The Corolla GR Sport, available as a hatchback or a touring model, comes with two engine options. There’s a 1.8-litre powertrain with 122 hp and 142 Nm or a 2.0-litre unit with 180 hp and 190 Nm; both of which will be hybrids.

The GR Sport distinguishes itself mainly with a new front grille, bespoke 18-inch alloy wheels and an exclusive Dynamic Grey paint job.

On the inside, the Corolla GR Sport comes with model-specific Sport seats, with red and black stitching on the instrument panel, steering wheel and gear lever.

Known as the Corolla Trek, the touring model is a collaborative effort between Toyota and Trek Bicycle. The touring model sits 20 mm higher for better ground clearance with bespoke 17-inch wheels, and will be on sale from August 2019.
