2022 Mazda CX-30 updated in Malaysia with new Ignite Edition variants – FWD and AWD, from RM169k

Alongside the Mazda 3, Bermaz Motor has also now updated the Mazda CX-30 for 2022 with two new Ignite Edition variants joining the line-up.

The two variants are based on the existing 2.0G High and 2.0G High AWD variants (the latter now discontinued in the local line-up), with pricing starting at RM169,044 and RM180,689 respectively – a RM9,000 increase over the standard models.

For that extra dough, the Ignite Edition models receive several extra aesthetic and equipment upgrades. The former includes a new set of 18-inch wheels finished in gloss black alongside blacked-out wing mirror covers, as well as burgundy leather upholstery on the seats inside.

As for equipment upgrades, the Ignite Edition variants gain a new 360-degree surround view monitor in place of the regular reverse camera, while the i-ActivSense advance driver assistance suite has also been updated to now include Front Cross Traffic Alert (FCTA), Driver Attention Alert with Driver Monitoring, and Cruising & Traffic Support (CTS).

With the new CTS feature working alongside the existing adaptive cruise control, the Mazda CX-30 Ignite Edition variants can now support a Level 2 semi-autonomous highway driving capability.

Beyond these changes, the rest of the Ignite Edition is carried over wholesale from the existing 2.0G High variants, with standard kit including the automatic LED headlights with a unique daytime-running light signature, powered sunroof, 8.8-inch infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, as well as a dual-zone climate control system with rear blower vents.

The powertrains are also unchanged from the existing variants. Underneath the bonnet for both Ignite Edition Variants is the same SkyActiv-G 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated inline-four engine, pushing out 162 hp and 213 Nm of torque. Both are paired to the same six-speed automatic gearbox, but the AWD variant adds the i-Activ all-wheel drive system (with Off-Road Traction Assist) to send power to all four wheels.
