Final round of MCS 2021 at Sepang Circuit to conclude with 300 km endurance

Motorsports and Malaysia’s premier touring car race continues with Round 3 and Round 4 of the Malaysia Championship Series 2021. The doubleheader format that was first seen in the opening rounds will be maintained but Round 4 sees an endurance race format at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC).

Recap from Round 1 and 2, Alif Hamdan and Lai Wee Sing from R Engineering HMRT remains unbeaten in their FC Honda Civic Turbo as they are the only entry in the Touring Production (TP) category. In the immediate category featuring four FD2 Honda Civic Type R models, the pair of Shazull Hisham and Mohd Syahrizan from the Empire M Racing and Ken Urata from RWorks both won a race each in Round 1 and Round 2, as such, will head to the doubleheader without much points separating team.

Leona Chin, who just emerged victorious at the recently concluded Sepang 1,000 km endurance race, also won two races (MTC category) in the first double-header last month. Leona and her Tedco Racing team hope this race will be smoother, as the crew needed time and resources to repair the Suzuki Swift Sport after sustaining damage from contact in Race 2 and Race 3.

The pair of Muhammad Roni Risman and Shaifulnizam in their Dori’s Racing Honda Jazz will be pushing hard to win their first race of the season as well as the 2021 championship.

As for Stock Production 2 (SP2), the perfect combination of Hayden Haikal and Adam Khalid drove the BHPetrol-liveried yellow-and-white Honda Fit GK5 to win Race 3 and 4 (Round 2), whilst the pairing of Mitchell Cheah and Ady Rahimy in their 23 Motors black Honda Jazz won Race 1 and 2 (Round 1).

The SP2 category sees the most action across the category thanks to the similar performance levels of the Honda Jazz machines. With the 300 km endurance planned for Race 4 on Thursday not only tests machine durability but also driver focus and stamina plus team pit strategies.

MCS 2021 organised by Sepang International Circuit (SIC), supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS), sanctioned by Motorsports Association of Malaysia (MAM) with Yokohama as the Official Tyre Distributor and BHPetrol as the Official Fuel Partner.
