The BMW iX configurator is now live in Malaysia, Design Suite interior at RM21k

Officially launched just over a month ago, the BMW iX fully electric SUV has created quite a buzz due to its price level as well as availability so soon after its global introduction. In just five days, BMW Malaysia was proud to announce that their dealers have managed to collect 64 bookings of the futuristic-looking and zero-emission BMW SAV.

Similar to the BMW M3 and M4 Competition models, BMW Malaysia is now opening up the online configurator for customers to customise their BMW iX to suit their preferences. The configurator will allow customers who are pre-booking, or have previously booked, the BMW iX xDrive40 variants before October 12th, to enjoy add-on packages of their choosing.

Both the BMW iX xDrive 40 regular and xDrive 40 Sport can add the vital Power package (RM4,600) that includes the BMW i Wallbox (Generation 3, Type 2) and BMW i Public Charging cable. At 11 kW of AC power delivery, the i Wallbox will take up to 7 hours and 15 mins to fully charge the iX’s battery pack.

As the fully electric vehicle accelerates and glides along in near silence, synthesised sound has been pumped back into the cabin for a more emotive driving experience. Composed together with Academy Award-winner, Hans Zimmer, the BMW IconicSounds Electric package is paired with blue seat belts and the package is priced at RM3,020.

Apart from the Sport package (blue brake calipers, sport design bumpers, darkened tail lamps) and larger 22-inch wheels, the xDrive 40 Sport also includes the Driving Assistant Professional, BMW LaserLight system and the Luxury package that consists of the Panorama Sky Lounge, Headliner Anthracite and a 18-speaker Harman Kardon Surround Sound System as standard.

The range-topping Bowers & Wilkins sound system has actual jewellery in them! Find out how they function as speakers here.

The BMW iX xDrive 40 variant can also tick these options, but it would be an additional RM64,930 in total, pushing the price to RM487,620, well above the Sport variants price of RM472,630.

Nonetheless, the option is available for customers who are choosing the iX xDrive40 variant to simply select just any of the packages they so desire, such as just the Luxury Package (RM33,490) or Technology Package (RM15,700).

As for special exterior and interior colours, both variants can be had with the Aventurine Red Metallic or the Storm Bay Metallic paint from the BMW Individual catalogue for an additional RM7,540.

Lastly, the Interior Design Suite Castanea and Interior Design Suite Amido feature exclusive olive leaf tanned natural leather in two exclusive colours that feature on the instrument panel, door trim panels, centre console and seats. Metal accents in Gold Bronze, along with the elaborate quilting seams also support this elegant impression. Both options are priced at RM21,110 individually.

Under the xDrive 40 guise, performance figures are as follow: dual-motor electric AWD setup for a combined output of 326 hp and 630 Nm of torque, 0 to 100 km/h sprint in 6.1 seconds, top speed of 200 km/h and a driving range of up to 425 km (WLTP) from the 76.6 kWh battery pack.

BMW Malaysia is currently listing a price of RM422,690 for the iX xDrive 40 and RM472,630 for the iX xDrive 40 Sport variant. Extending the standard warranty coverage from two to five years with unlimited mileage is RM16,170 extra.

Selecting everything available on the menu pushes the BMW iX xDrive40 Sport to RM525,070, amazingly, still lower than an entry-level Porsche Taycan RWD.
