BMW Malaysia has received 64 pre-bookings for fully-electric BMW iX

BMW Group Malaysia announced yesterday that it has received 64 pre-booking registrations for the fully electric BMW iX just five days after its launch here, coinciding with Malaysia’s 64th National Day.

“We are pleased to see Malaysians take a bold step in choosing sustainable mobility as part of their lifestyle, which underlines our belief that the future is in fact electric. We have long committed to shape the future of mobility in the country, and we will confidently continue to cultivate the shift towards electromobility further by accelerating the availability of charging infrastructures in Malaysia and rapidly expanding the BMW i dealer network in key cities nationwide,” said BMW Group Malaysia, Managing Director, Hans de Visser.

Launched: BMW iX xDrive40 electric SUV now in Malaysia, from RM419k!

The pre-booking was offered on the BMW Shop Online platform for a fee of RM5,000. As part of the pre-booking fee, customers are also entitled to complimentary charger installation although you’d have to buy the charger yourself along with 1-year access to ChargEV’s public charging stations.

The offer was initially offered to 50 customers but has now been extended to 100 customers. The offer ends on the 22nd of September 2021.

In time, BMW Malaysia will also offer the iX xDrive50 but for now, the iX will only be available in the xDrive40 variant. It gets two electric motors to drive all four wheels, with an output of 326 hp and 630 Nm. 0 to 100 km/h is done in 6.1 seconds, with a top speed of 200 km/h.

It’s powered by a 76.6 kWh battery, capable of returning 425 km of driving range. A full charge with the standard charger will take about seven hours.

With the Balloon Financing Plan from BMW Group Financial Services Malaysia, the iX xDrive40 starts from RM4,888 per month, based on an 80% loan on a five-year tenure.
