The Brabus 900 Rocket sends the AMG GLE63 to 330 km/h, making it the world’s fastest SUV!

The Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S Coupe already sets a high-performance benchmark, with 612 hp and 850 Nm of power to register 3.7 seconds on the sprint stopwatch and 280 km/h top speed.

A year after introducing the Brabus 900 Rocket Edition package on the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S, the brash tuning company has shoehorned the same self-developed Brabus Rocket 900 V8 Biturbo engine into a Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S Coupe.

Thanks to a plethora of upgrades (internals, crankshaft, turbochargers, fuel pumps, ECU etc.) that increases the V8 engine’s displacement to 4.4 litres, the additional power of 900 hp and up to 1,250 Nm of torque allows the huge Mercedes-AMG GLE Coupe to slice the air resistance to reach a top speed of 330 km/h, making it the world’s fastest SUV.

A breakdown of items in the price list marked this engine upgrade valued at EUR79,000 (approx. RM388k)! 3.2 seconds is all it takes for the 2.5-tonne Brabus 900 Rocket Edition AMG GLE to accelerate from standstill to 100 km/h.

For the super SUV to see that 330 km/h top speed, the vehicle must be fitted with smaller 23-inch Brabus Monoblock Y “Platinum Edition” forged wheels and wrapped with Continental high-performance tyres. Else, the 24-inch carbon aero wheels that come with the Brabus 900 Rocket Edition Package can safely drive up to 290 km/h.

Full carbon fibre body kit and inserts complete the otherwise simple exterior upgrades.

Mercedes-AMG uses more than just plug-in hybrid technology to boost performance. Check out their bright red AMG GT 63 S E Performance here!

Inside, the Brabus 900 Rocket Edition AMG GLE get the ‘Rocket Red’ signature highlights on almost every switch, speaker grille and even the steering wheel and foot pedals. The grey leather upholstery features finely stitched quilting and embroidery of the Brabus logo.

Unlike just ten units of the Rocket Edition AMG GT 63 S, this Brabus 900 Rocket Edition AMG GLE has a larger total count of 25 units, each with a price tag of EUR453,681 plus VAT (approx. RM2.2 million).

Brabus also has something for four-cylinder AMG models. Check out this B45 for more info!

In a quick comparison to other super SUVs, the recently launched Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT with 640 hp completes the century dash in 3.3 seconds with a top speed of 300 km/h. The range-topping Cayenne coupe is also the official record holder for the fastest SUV to lap the Nurburgring.

Meanwhile, the poster child of super SUVs, the Lamborghini Urus with 650 hp and 850 Nm of torque officially completes the sprint from standstill to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds. The top speed is 305 km/h. Expect the performance figures to move to a new level as a mid-life refresh is expected in the next six to 12 months.

Back in 2017, before the rise of the super SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk self-proclaimed the title ‘The Most Powerful SUV in the World’. Key performance figures include an American-made 6.2-litre supercharged V8 engine developing 707 hp and 875 Nm. It completes the benchmark sprint in 3.5 seconds and onward to a “measly” top speed of 288 km/h.

In Malaysia, Mercedes-Benz offers the GLE Coupe model in just one variant, the Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 Coupe, priced from RM812,047. It is powered by a turbocharged 3.0-litre straight-six engine with mild-hybrid technology, delivering a total of 435 hp and 520 Nm of torque.
